comes bearing the color of joy and those colors are spotted in the reflected
seasonal fruits and vegetables. The welcoming approach is not same in
India due to scorching sun and incredible sweats. The most difficult situation
of summer is to procure fresh stocks which will not last longer due to heat.
Summer is the giver of delicious produce yet the destroyer of the own. A few
produces lose the form of moldy, bruise and wilted before reaching the
customers. It is better to order the fruits and veggies rather than
buying from shops. Shops have people’s touch and long exposure to light. For

Give the green splashes an ice-bath which
is an effective way of locking the moisture. This avoids the wilted appearance
of greens tend to take after some time. All you need to do is to wash greens in
ice-cold water, followed by pat dry them in some paper towel. Now place the

introducing berries to hot water to make them last. Also, to save from fungus

stock of berries and thus making them last longer. After cleaning, place them
in a towel and allow them to breath before storing.
Freeze some fruits and vegetables

fruits and vegetables fresh and longer involves freezing them. We have seen our
desi families store maximum of the fruits and veggies in the refrigerator. Produce
like bell pepper, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, strawberries, mushrooms,
green beans and bunch of other fresh fruits and vegetables can be
stored. Just carry out mindful blanching in hot water before you stick in the below-freezing
temperature. This is essential to neutralize bacteria and delay the decay
process.
Never – never store tomatoes in refrigerator
This could really be shocking for desi
household culture. Actually, what we believe is contrary to the reality.
Storing tomatoes in fridge have an opposite effect of what you are striving
for. Exposure to cold temperature drains tomatoes of their natural flavor. It
also ruins the texture and taste of the produce. So, store tomatoes in a bowl
lined with paper towel with stem up away from heat or direct sunlight in room
temperature.
Wrap in paper and store in freezer
If you want to consume fresh and novel
produce rich in nutrients, you are supposed to consume it ideally within 1-3
days of purchase. Sometimes, it doesn’t work and storing is the viable option
to extend their life and nutrient. Place the unwashed produce in paper towel,
allow the towel to absorb excess moisture and put it in a plastic bag and store
it in fridge. Have a separate bag for each vegetable.
